(Dry weather friendly for all you Las Vegas loving folks!)
Let’s face it…skin care can be daunting. With so many products out there, it can be tough to know what order to apply them in (not to mention the harsh and dry weather that comes from living in Las Vegas… sigh). But fear not, my fellow beauty enthusiasts! We’ll go over the most effective way to apply your skincare to get the best results.
First things first, always apply your products from the lightest to the heaviest consistency. This means that your watery toners go first, followed by your creamy serums and finally, your oil-based moisturizers. Think of it as building a skincare sandwich – you want the lighter ingredients on the bottom, and the heavier ones on top.
At night, start by washing your face with a gentle cleanser to remove any dirt, makeup or grime. Then, follow it up with a toner to help balance your skin’s pH levels. This will help prepare your skin for the rest of your skincare routine.
Next, it’s time to get specific with your treatments. Apply any serums or spot treatments that target your specific skincare concerns, such as acne, wrinkles or dark spots. Don’t forget to show some love to your peepers with an eye cream to keep those crow’s feet at bay.
Slap on some moisturizer to hydrate your skin and lock in all the goodness from your previous layers. If you’re using retinol, apply it after your moisturizer. Finally, finish off with a few drops of face oil to seal in all the hydration and give your skin that extra glow. Now, you may be thinking “that is a lot of products”, well you aren’t alone, but remember that less is sometimes more. If you’re short on time or just starting out with a skincare routine, focus on the basics: cleansing, moisturizing, and sunscreen. These three steps will go a long way in keeping your skin healthy and looking its best. A gentle cleanser to remove impurities, a moisturizer to hydrate your skin, and a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays are the building blocks of any good skincare routine. So don’t stress if you don’t have a shelf full of products just yet. Start with the basics and work your way up as you get more comfortable. Your skin will thank you!
